You got a new puppy thinking it is cute but it is now creating troubles for you by
barking too much? This is a common problem with inexperienced dog owners.
Your house is not an odd place for you but for a new puppy, it can be difficult to
digest relocation. As per the experts, most of the puppies bark ridiculously for a
stretch because they fear being lonely. Puppies or dogs can suffer anxiety
attacks and this is when they start barking and keep on doing so.
You just leave the room and they will start barking that very instant. Think about
you leaving the house for a few hours? Before you brought the puppy to your
house, it was with its mother and other puppies. They were very secure in their
minds or simply put they were familiar and comfortable. Are you still annoyed at
your little barking puppy?
So many people just stroke their puppies or dogs and make them quiet but are
you doing justice to them? If you keep on continuing this, you are likely to have a
spoil dog in near future. But you can’t even let it bark and bark. After all, you
don’t want to annoy your family and friends. Using the below mentioned dog
training methods, you can simply win over this situation. Try these steps and
cope up with this barking issue:

1.) Try and ignore the barking as much as you can rather than shouting at the
puppy. Your shouting will never solve the issue. By shouting, you are either
making it more anxious resulting into severe anxiety attack or you are will
just scare the puppy and the puppy will stop coming to you out of love.

2.) You now know that your puppy or dog is barking because of the fear of
being alone. So, try and avoid any situation where you have to leave for
some work for long hours. Your departure will scare the puppy even more.
A golden rule here is to NOT spend time with your puppy and speak
sweetly JUST before you leave because after you leave, your puppy will
start missing you resulting into anxiety. Same should be followed on home
coming. Simply don’t let your dog wait for you as at the times of late home
coming, your dog will get depressed.

3.) Water gun is a nice solution to stop your dog from barking. In dog
training sessions, water gun is used widely as it doesn’t do any harm to
the puppy/dog. Whenever the dog starts barking, just spray a little amount
of water on its face and it will stop right there. Don’t spray more water as
we do not want to flood our dog’s nose.
In a nutshell, when you are dog training, you should always keep one thing in
mind that the reason behind your puppy’s barking is the feeling of being all
alone. Don’t be harsh on them. Give it some time and soon you will have a
loving, calm and peaceful pet.

As in the case of a child, medicines need to be given the dog systematically.
•	For pills or tablets, it is better to grind them and administer in a liquid form by mixing the powder in water or milk. One can even wrap the medicine in something pleasant to prevent him from spitting it out. Any tablet needs to be given right to the back of the dog’s mouth.

•	For liquid medicines, the dogs should be brought into a sitting posture on its hind legs and the front legs should be straight. The master should stand over the dog with his legs apart and grip the back of the dog with his things and lift its mouth upward, opening it by holding the upper jaw with the left hand.

•	Once the jaw is opened in this manner the liquid medicines should be given, preferably drop by drop or in smaller doses. It is advantageous to use the dropper while giving liquid medicines. you can gently pull out the corner of the dog lips making a convenient pouch in which the medicines can be poured. If the dog is being treated for skin or external infections,it is better to tie its jaw to avoid the medicine or lotion being licked off.Homeopathic medicines are not only effective but they are also easy to to give to the dog. These pills are small and they dissolve to mouth very fast.

•	For skin diseases, a simple procedure can be followed. The medicines for skin diseases are normally in powder or liquid form.

Powered medicines can be proportionately mixed with water and then applied as if you are using a shampoo, i.e medicines should reach the roots of the hair. An important remember in both the cases is that the dog should not be allowed to lick its body for at least one hour after the application of medicines. Discourage the dog from licking its body by repeatedly saying ‘no’ whenever he tries to lick his body or loop a nectie or a bandage around his muzzle and make a knot under the jaw. This will prevent the dog from licking the medicines applied to the wound.

The dog’s place must be established as soon as he arrives in his permanent home. He must learn that all human beings in his home are above him. Most dogs settle happily in the submissive role once they are clearly placed there. This is a not a matter of punishment for the dog. There are some simple rules to make your dog understand.

Puppy Feeding
The leader eats first. It is often convenient to feed the dog before you eat, but the dog observes this, you are sending one of those confusing signals. If the family and the dog are going to eat at more or less the same time and in the same place, let the puppy wait. puppy-feeding times are best arranged well away from your own meal times, which will avoid sending this signal. From the start, it is useful to make the puppy come to you for his food and wait until you are ready,by teaching him to sit before you put the bowl down. Make the puppy wait a moment or two before allowing him to put his head into the bowl

Puppy Grooming
Daily grooming under proper control will indicate who is in charge. Some puppies will resent the handling involved-dominance again- Some puppies will resent.

Puppy Biting
During the period of growth, the pup is likely to include in every kind of mischief such as picking up shoes, socks or they even like to mouth your fingers. stop it immediately by saying “NO” and the thing that the dog is holding should be removed physically. Don’t hit the pup otherwise he is likely to become timid and will start showing withdrawal symptoms very soon.

Playing Games With Your Puppy
Avoid contest games with your puppy. Tug of war is fun, but can easily develop into a contest of dominance, with the puppy either wining the tug or growing while hanging on. Running after a suitably large ball (not a stick or a ball small enough for the puppy to choke on) can be fun for the dog. But teach your puppy to bring the toy back to you by not running after the dog to get the ball. show indifference if the puppy runs away with the ball and reward him with praise and pats if he brings it back to you.

Obedience training not only teaches a dog the basic commands but also teaches an owner how to communicate effectively with his dog A well-trained dog is less likely to develop unwanted behavior pattens. Party because dogs often adopt bad habits when they are bored. In all dog training , a lot of persistence and patience is requires by the owner. Training for house manners to a dog should start when a pup is 7 weeks of age. The dog can learn faster if the owner himself imparts the training instead of another person, though professional trainers are also available.

1.) INTRODUCING YOUR DOG

•	All dogs or puppies need to meet as many other dogs and as many people as possible. From the day you acquire him, your new dog should start to meet other people.
•	If the owners are friendly and give enough love to the dog, the latter will reciprocate. if the dog is kept secluded, he is likely to get bored and may even become shy of human company.
•	The visitors should be asked to hold the dog, handling and cuddling him gently, so that he learns that people are friends. However, until the dog had his vaccinations, avoid his contact with other dog owner’s. Ask dog owners to delay their visit until your dog has had his second round of injections.

2.) DOG TRAINING : TELLING PUPPY HIS NAME

•	The first important step with regard to training is to provide an identity to the puppy by naming it. The dog owner can opt for any name he likes and start calling the puppy by that name.
•	For the first few times the puppy may not respond to the name but the owner should try again and again and the puppy will gradually understand that the master is calling it with a specific name.
•	The puppy should be rewarded after its response either by a pat on the back or with an eatable.
•	If the puppy doesn’t respond immediately , do not scold him Eventually the puppy will start responding.
Teaching are dog good habits is best achieved by rewarding success although scolding is also sometimes necessary.

•	3.) DOG TRAINING :TEACHING YOUR DOG RESPONDING TO ‘NO’

The second stage of training is to teach the meaning of ‘NO’ to the puppy. This is essential to discourage the puppy from indulging in unwanted acts. Take the common game of chewing your shoelaces. Roll a newspaper and tap on his thigh with a firm ‘NO. This will make him realize his fault. This act may have to be repartee a number of times to impress upon the puppy that whenever the master says ‘NO’, it is to discourage him from doing that particular act. The most important aspect of ordering the puppy is the voice of the master. He should say ‘NO’ in a markedly emphatic tone that should scare the puppy. And whenever the puppy follows the order , the master should reward him with eatables or a pat on the head.

4.) DOG POTTY TRAINING

The is the number one priority. Many dogs will not have had any house training before they arrive at their new home. There are two methods of teaching a dog to use an appropriate site for its toilet and they can be used simultaneously.
•	(i) FIRST METHOD
The moment you notice the desire of the dog to answer nature’s call you should take the dog to the predetermined spot. This act should be repeated again and again till he gets used to it. The dog normally gives the following indications when it wants to urinate:
•	Whining if it is tied up
•	Sniffing the floor
•	Moving in circles
•	Scathing
If you miss the signs, do not scold the dog. take him to that spot and make the dog aware of his shameful act by saying ‘NO’.
(ii) SECOND METHOD
The second method is to use newspaper to cover the entire floor area on which the dog runs. He will learn that newspaper is a suitable medium for his natural functions and a gradual reduction in the size of the available newspaper will result in the dog using a smaller and smaller area of floor. The theory is that you can then move the paper outside and the puppy will continue to use it, until he learns that only outside the house is appropriate. Both methods work, one will suit the dog better than another. A combination of the two by using the paper at night and extreme vigilance during the day, will usually produce the best results.

5.) POINTS TO NOTE WHEN TRAINING YOUR DOG :

It is important to learn the signals that the puppy gives when it wants to urinate and put the puppy gives when it wants to urinate and put the puppy outside as soon as he wakes up and after every meal. If you are using newspaper method it may be necessary initially to cover the entire floor.

6.) GETTING USED TO A LEAD

This really must be regarded as fun by the puppy.

•	STEP 1 is to put a collar on. This will feel very strange and his immediate reaction will be to try to scratch if off. But delicious treats will distract him and overcome the itchiness of the collar.
•	STEP 2 it to attach a light lead but not until the collar is tolerated happily. Don’t hold the lead at this stage. Let the puppy become accustomed to it by dragging it around. Finally hold the lead, and gradually wind it in loosely, calling the puppy for still more treats.

7.) POINTS TO NOTE:

•	Soft collars are more easily tolerated than new stiff leather ones.
•	Use flat collar or light weight collar for small breeds.
•	Use round collars or medium weight chains for big breeds.

WHY DOGS DO THE THINGS THEY DO?

• DOG TAIL CHASING : Its is a normal form of play for puppies. A puppy instinctively chases the tip of the tail, possibly because it resembles a moving prey. Adult dogs are more likely to chase their tails because of inadequate exercise or inadequate attention from their owners. They also may have fleas or some other medical problem.

•	DOG EATING GRASS: Most dogs seem to enjoy the flavor of grass when they have digestive disorders. The grass causes vomiting, which can help make the dog feel better.

•	DOG DIGGING HOLES: The ancestors of dogs often buried part of the food they caught on hurts to protect it from other animals. Dogs frequently bury bones or food or simply dig holes.

•	DOG PANTING:This helps a dog stay cool. When saliva evaporates from the tongue and mouth, it has a cooling effect that helps reduce the dog’s body heat. Dog have sweat glands only in their feet and the glands have little effect on body temperature.

•	CHEWING OF HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS: This may arise simply from boredom or separation anxiety.

•	DOG HOWLING: It is natural for dogs to howl like their cousin, the wolf. In domestic circumstances howling is usually a sign of distress.

•	DOG OVERSEXED BEHAVIOR: This is frequently an expression of frustrated dominance, often done by small dogs.

•	DOG LICKING ANAL REGION: All dogs will lick and clean their anal region, but frequent licking is a sign that veterinary attention is needed.

•	DOGS SCRATCHING: It is normal, but regular scratching demands attention. In nine out of ten cases it will be something as simple as fleas.

•	DOG JUMPING UP: This is probably the comment objectionable behavior by dogs. it is far better prevented than cured. The owner should discourage the dog by saying ‘no’ and showing his displeasure.

It is of utmost importance that the the dog chosen fits into the home environment comfortably. Consider not just how the dog would fit into your own way of life, but also how your lifestyle would affect the dog.
Choosing the right breed is an intensely personal matter but there are some broad guidelines:

1. SIZE OF THE DOG
The size of the fully grown dog is an important consideration. If one is living in a small flat, one should keep a small dog. Large dogs need open space so only people with big house should opt for such breeds.

2. BREED OR TYPE BEHAVIOR
This is probably more important in choosing a dog than any other characteristic. The temperament of the dog should be compatible with that of its owner,s. For instance – an enthusiastic and an extrovert owner should select a puppy which suits his lifestyle, Such an owner will never be happy with a docile, quiet and a sleepy puppy.
The Terrier dogs such as Bull Terrier, Border Terrier are lively, not easy to train, but very responsive dogs, They are good with children of property trained.
Toys dogs such as Pomeranian, Apse are very good as companions but can seldom provide a sense of security to their master. They are very alert. They bark at the slightest noise. All toy dogs will be happy with as much exercise as you can give them, but they may be equally happy with only a moderate amount.
The gun dog (sporting) breeds- Golden Retriever, Labrador are generally easy to train and settle into the human environment without difficulty, They need exercise and lank of exercise shows! These dogs could be skilfully trained.

The breeds are classified into 2 segments- Pedigree and Mongrel.

Pedigree: These are purebred dogs and the family history is clear. The Most important advantage of picking a purebred dog are highly cultured. The advantage of picking a purebred dog is that you know what you are getting. From a reputable breeder, a Cooker Spaniel puppy will grow up into a Cooker Spaniel dog, of a size and weight that is within the breed norm, and with potential behavior characteristics typical of the breed, There is, or should be advice available to deal with whatever problems may arise as a particular feature of the breed.

Mongrel: is one which has no purity of breed and is nothing but a street or stray dog. Mongrel differ from pedigree dogs in the sense that no hierarchy of the breed is known or its record is not property maintained. Culturing mongrel breeds becomes the responsibility of the dog-owner who intends to groom them. For these reasons, it is a always preferable to have a pedigree dog at home rather than a mongrel. But the main factor that governs all aspects of keeping a pet dog is the relationship between the dog and the master. Matching psychological wavelength between the two is more important than the breed and pedigree of the dog.

1.) cuts & scratches
Treatment depends on how large and deep the cut or scratch is. If there is any sign of blood on the dog, look carefully and once you have located the cut, clip sufficient hair around it to expose the wound. If the cut looks deep or longer than about a centimeter(1/2 inch), It will need attention and probably, a stitch or two at the veterinary surgeon. A minor cut or a scratch that does not penetrate the skin, will usually need very little treatment. Soothing cream will be sufficient. A tube of Hi max should be kept at home.

2.) SORES AND RASHES
A dog may get sore or rash through chewing itself or from insect bites. Sores and rashes remain hidden under the dog coat for sometime before they become visible to the eyes. Thus, the dog should be checked regularly for sores and rashes. In the case of sores and rashes. The dog should be immediately taken to the vet.

3.) BITES
Dog bites will often become infected. This is particularly the case when the bite causes a puncture wound. The dog should be taken to the veterinary surgery within twenty-four hours to allow the vet to assess whether antibiotic injections are needed. Prior to that, the wound may be cleansed with an antiseptic lotion.

4.) CHOKING
Some dogs are compulsive pickers of sicks and stones or ball chasers. This type of incident requires a trip to the vet and sedation to remove the object.

5.) CAUTION
An ill or injured dog may bite the owner/doctor while giving treatment. Loop a necktie or a bandage around his muzzle and make a knot under the jaw. This will also prevent the dog from licking the medicines applied to the wound.

Bringing home a new puppy or even an order dog is an important family occasion. Everyone wants to touch, hold and stroke the new member of the family, especially the children. But it is important to take things slowly and gently. In the case of a puppy, this will be the first time away from the only environment the puppy has known and away from his mother and litter mates. The world is huge and frightening for him. Bring him home when there are not too many people around, and introduce him to him to his new environment in as relaxed a manner as possible. Let him look and sniff around, offer him a little something to eat which he probably won”t accept and allow him to roam around freely in the house. Bring your family and friends to meet the dog one or two at a time and give him time to make friends before introducing anyone else. You must remember that the puppy expects love from you and nothing else. Hence, your approach to it should be such that the puppy feels confident that its life is well-secured in your household. The other little newcomer develops confidence about each member. Once the setting in process has begun, interrupt the dog’s established routine as little as possible. For a puppy, follow the breeder’ s feeding regime, giving the same number of feeds at the same time each day make any dietary changes gradually.
Some things you need to care for your dog OR Puppy

Water and Feed Bowls:

1.) Clean water should always be available for the dog/pup.
2.) Water bowls should be full and washed regularly.
3.) Most dogs spill more water around the bowl than they swallow. So choose the site for the water-bowl carefully.
4.) Never add another meal without first cleaning the bowl.
5.) The water bowl should be made of non-rust metal.
6.) The bowl should be heavy, so that the dog does not pick it up and carry it around like a toy.
7.) Feed bowls may be much the same as water bowls, with the same idea-the dog should not regard the bowl as a toy.

Beds And Bedding:

1.) The new dog’s bed is very important-the bed is the dog,s own special place.
2.) It is important to introduce the dog to his bed as soon as he arrives and to insist that the bed is where he sleeps.
To make sure the dog uses his bed, shut him into a bedroom on the first night with nothing else to a choose for a comfortable sleep but the bed.
3.) Young puppies start crying at night. Cuddle it and let it sleep in your arms and then put him on his bed.
4.) The bedding should be made of synthetic material as it is offer .

Toys And Dogs:

1.) Toys are important, whatever the age of the dog, but particularly for a young puppy. During teething, pups like to bite. So for their comfort, give them toys.
2.) No toy should be given to a pup which can be chewed or which may hurt his mouth.
3.) Balls, plastic bones and rings are some of the popular toys.
